Ever since I moved to an area that did industrial logging I have been appalled at the massive amount of wood that was burned just to get rid of it.  Even though I cringe at the waste, every time is see one of these immense piles put to the torch,  I am attracted to the color, power, and wild fury of the flames.

This painting was an attempt to capture some of that on canvas.  It felt strange to paint the intensely hot burning logs in shades of blue, which is a cool color, but compared with the exploding flames that surround them, they were cool in comparison.
