Family Reunion, 2010

My family is spread out from Amsterdam, Dallas, Indiana to L.A..   In July, 2010, most of them gathered at our home in McBride, BC for a family reunion.  They all followed the Canadian custom of taking off their shoes when they came into the house.  One morning during their visit, I noticed the colorful and diverse pile of shoes by the door, and that became my 33rd painting.

I am giving this painting to my mother in March for her 90th birthday.  If you know her, don’t tell, because I want it to be a surprise.
